Peer Belt's beta notes
-
Peer Belt is now set up. What's next?!
Surprisingly, just resume your normal Internet browsing. Peer Belt will take note of the valuable content as you discover it. No bookmarking, no tagging, generally nothing special required on your side. Just be yourself - genuine and smart!
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7, 8, and 9 Beta and Google Chrome running on Windows (7, Vista, or XP). Firefox is in the works still.
Follow up
We will post usage scenarios, walkthroughs, and additional product information on the Peer Belt's web site as we go. Keep an eye on the site. Even better, follow us on Twitter @peerbelt.
For any question or comment, no matter how small, please send us feedback from within the product.
The geeky stuff
- invite a friend, so that your friends know what cool technology you've found first
- use the in-product feedback for open dialog
- data extraction on top of n-gram frequency stats from the blogosphere to better filter content
- automatic update stability improvement to keep your copy safely running
- a data processing engine utilizes no more than 5% of the host CPU so it is never standing in your way
- automatic exception reporting, so we know what has gone wrong and have a chance to fix it before it grows into a pain
- easy-to-use UI that hides the uninteresting complexity
- an innovative no-scroll time axis capable of navigating up 5 years of data with ~1 hour/pixel resolution near the focal point
- no keyboard related annoyances; in a dialog you can always hit {Esc} and be done with it; use {Space} and {Enter} for the history screen; if we missed anything let us know
- check the AppData\LocalLow\PeerBelt\Config for configuration options and feel free to push the limits! if something breaks, let us know; oh, and always keep a copy of the original config file: you never know, it is a beta software after all.
Thank you for running Peer Belt!
